My background and therapeutic approach
I help people heal the pain from their past and find joy in their lives again. Most of my work has been with anxiety and Complex PTSD, the type of trauma that develops in response to the prolonged, repeated experience of being hurt by the very people that were supposed to love you.
I am also experienced in treating problems related to family conflict, couples, divorce/separation and coparenting challenges. I enjoy working with the adolescent and young adult population, including foster/adoptive youth.
I am welcoming of diversity in all its forms: racial, multicultural, gender and sexual identities, traditional and alternative relationships, religious or not, and the neurodivergent community. I am anti-racist and committed to social justice. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and domestic violence expert through ICDVP.
My therapeutic approach uses a blend of evidence-based psychological techniques and Eastern philosophies. I believe that there is power in being fully present, and that we are all connected, ever-evolving beings. I use a “relational frame”, which means that it is crucial for me to create a strong therapeutic alliance in which my clients feel seen, heard and safe. In the therapeutic process, I encourage my clients to be open to experience and step outside of their comfort zone in order to grow. I help my clients identify and process their feelings from new perspectives.
I am a true optimist who believes that happiness is our birthright. I can tell you from personal experience that change is possible. Despite having encountered quite a few challenges and speed bumps in my years, I now live a healthy and satisfying life filled with joy, love, respect and positive expectations. I would love the opportunity to help you achieve the same.
